Spring Health Tips:

3 Things To Do Now!

Spring is the perfect time to revisit any New Year’s health goals and re-commit to healthier habits. Many of us in northern climates went right from the holidays into a hard winter and have the aches, pains and excess weight to show for it. A few simple health commitments can pay huge dividends when done consistently. Here are our top three Spring Health Tips:

Clean your closets and workspace.

There’s a reason spring cleaning is so popular. Reduced clutter reduces emotional stress and allows you to enjoy life and work more efficiently. Take a day to clean out your closet, bathroom, bedroom and garage. Don’t forget about your workspace either. Your desk, office closets and even email inbox can be a source of unnecessary stress.

Take a hike!

Commit to daily walking (outside) whether it be 10,000 steps or a mile after dinner each night. Push yourself on weekends to go a little further or try a new trail system at a local park. The fresh air, sunshine and movement will help your brain and body in more ways than you can think.

Clean your gut.

Spring is also a good time to recommit to a healthy meal plan to reduce inflammation and provide your body with essential nutrients. There are many ways to do this depending on your health goals. The easiest option is to pick one thing for 40 days. This could be simply drinking half your body weight in ounces per day, eating a vegetable at every meal or eliminating added sugar and artificial sweeteners. Another option is to eliminate grains, dairy, sugar & soy for 10 days and focus on fruits, vegetables and healthy fats & proteins. Essentially, you’re swapping inflammatory foods for anti-inflammatory foods.  The next step further is our 14-day cleanse from Designs For Health. This combines an anti-inflammatory diet with shakes and vitamins to cleanse the body, improving results. Whatever you choose, stick with the plan for an extended time to give your body a chance to see the benefits.

Finally, if it’s been a while, or if you’ve never been to a chiropractor, now is the time to get your spine and nervous system functioning at its optimal level so you can be at your best!
